The entrance in front of St. Peter’s Basilica had a semi-circle of gray columns (surprise, surprise) with sculptures lining the top all the way around (see photos above). The tall, stark white-gray of the scupltures against the blue of the sky was absolutely beautiful. Within this semi-circle on the ground were lots of small folding chairs which I am guessing are used for outdoor masses held here; I can only imagine the wait to get a seat! Also just after taking photos of this fountain above, we ran into Jason & Ellen again!
